I’ve tried the paint mixer in making my soaps. Both cp and hp. Stick with the stick blender. The paint mixer method will mix it but it takes just as long as hand stirring to bring to trace! With the stick blender the results happen within minutes.

Jeff and Mikah came up with it. Neither one of them wanted to take the time to sort through plans. They just started talking and helped each other refine their ideas. It was great! I’m really proud of them.

Love it, Wardeh! Thanks for sharing. I’ve never had chickens, but this is fascinating, plus I love the inventiveness of it all – so cool! Makes me want chickens!
Also like the idea of the golf ball/wooden eggs – I’m gonna store that somewhere in my brain!

Very cleaver design. Did you guys come up with that on your own? As I have not see it before. I know what you mean about them needing darkness and privacy. I hung a blanket in front of my nesting boxes to give them that. Darkness also helps prevent them from eating their own eggs. If they can’t see them, they can’t eat them. I guess I don’t have the boxes dark enough because that is an ongoing problem for me. Well done, you guys!

Marci — Wooden eggs, I bet they’re lovely! We actually did leave a golf ball in there and the first egg was laid right next to it.

“…proved to us that we did not have a handle on our eggs.” Oh my goodness, I don’t remember the last time I laughed so hard! What a joy, though… now you have extra chickens, and that can’t be ALL bad, right?
I like Marci’s suggestion. I’m furiously taking notes for when my municipality changes the zoning regs and I can have cluckers of my own!

Put some wooden ones out there you can leave. They love to lay in a nest that already has eggs.
