Tea Party with Friends
We had friends over today. Even though we’ve been sick with a cold, the visit was wonderful. These friends of ours have been through a cold lately, too, so we felt safe sharing germs.
They came at lunch time. We had set the table with all our nice tea cups and saucers. We made three kinds of tea — lemon zinger, white pomegranate, and mint. All sweetened with raw local, honey…

Open Source Software
I have put together the last couple quarterly eZines for T2CHK. The software I have on my computer is MS Publisher, which I find clunky and lacking in professional features. It is a far cry from Adobe PageMaker (now called InDesign, as a friend informed me), a desktop publishing program that I used when I was in college. I was ready to switch…

“Don’t Look, Mom!”
Mikah is drawing at the table. Mom (that’s me) is about to walk by.
Mikah: “Don’t look, Mom! Please don’t look at what I’m drawing.”
Mom: “Okay, I’m walking by without looking, without looking, without looking…”
Mikah: “I’m drawing something for Baba (Dad) and I guess it’s for you, too. So I don’t want you to look. It’s for Christmas.”
Mom: “Okay.”
Two minutes later…
Mikah: “Okay, I’m done. I want you to see it…

Paper Dolls
My girls (and even my boy, until today) are into paper dolls. They colored and cut out all the sets they’d been given, so then we started scouring the internet for free black & white printable paper dolls.
My favorite of all is the Mary Engelbreit original (pictured at right) which we just found minutes ago. If only there were more of these…

Certain Things That Do Not Make Sense To Me
(in other words, Wardeh’s Pet Peeves)
How white clothes are supposed to stay white.
How the white in clothes combining white with a darker, bleedy color are supposed to stay white.
How anyone ever thought that carpeting a dining room would be beneficial to the general cleanliness of a house.
How anyone can not prefer sweets.
How two of my children leave messes behind for practically everything they do.
How practically every simple task takes much…

Movie: Miss Potter
We watched Miss Potter (2006) last night; a very sweet movie. Sometimes, movies are disappointing, either because they’re too kiddish, too silly, or too artsy. This one was perfectly clean, sweet, well-done, and inspiring.
This movie tells the “story of Beatrix Potter, the author of the beloved and best-selling children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, and her struggle for love…

The Boy Who Knows (Some) Charles Dickens
We were making popcorn. Mikah was performing his usual job of salting the popcorn in a big paper shopping bag. Then the lights went on (in his brain, I mean).
Mikah said, “Hey, Mom! Look! The popcorn is Mr. Smallweed and I’m Judy… okay? Watch!”
Then he shook the bag to distribute the salt while shouting, “Shake me up, Judy!”
I almost burned the next batch of popcorn, I was laughing so hard.
I am a Daffodil
This quiz says about me: You have a sunny disposition and are normally one of the first to show up for the party. You don’t need too much attention from the host once you get there as you are more than capable of making yourself seen and heard.
I say…

I’m on Wireless!
This is too cool! The hardware arrived for me to connect the internet via ATT’s wireless network. I can’t believe it. I have three bars, you know of the five. It is already quite speedy, a big improvement over dial-up. I’m not sure I need much faster. With having multiple Firefox tabs going, I barely open up another tab before the previous one is loaded. Now if only *I* could…
