For Fun
Wool Sock Experiment
No, I am not knitting wool socks. No time for that. My projects have to be fast.
Before I tell you about my experiment, let me make a confession.
My Sister and Nieces Came to Visit
An assortment of pictures from a special whirlwind visit from my sister and her two sweet girls, Luca and Aila. The weather was very, very hot. (Thus the river and the ice cream.) Luca and Aila helped us with all the milking chores, feeding the wild turkeys, and playing at the Big Tree. Just a wonderful time ~ and not long enough!
Sally Scratching Her Bottom
Just for fun, I have a video to show you today. I took it this morning during the milking time. In addition to our Nubian milkers, we have Nigerian Dwarf goats (who we do not milk). One of them, Sally, is a butt-scratcher. She will find the most curious places on our property to give her bottom a good scratching. I’ve been trying to remember to take the camera with me outside, the greatest purpose for which is to catch Sally scratching. And this morning, I caught her at it. So here she is – meet Sally!
“When I Build You” From My Brother Jibran
My brother, Jibran, wrote a song for a client, for whom he was doing some sort of computer/web job. I don’t understand all the particulars, but suffice it to say he’s really good at his job and he can sing about it pretty well, too.
The client really liked the song, so he hired a crew to film Jibran playing it in downtown Seattle. Then Jibran created a website (When I Build You) to feature the song and that’s what you get to see. I love the line, “All the php-ers cry boo-hoo.” You’re blessed to be getting a sneak peak. Right now my brother is away from home without proper internet to spread the word.
Hope he won’t be mad at me for jumping the gun, but he gave me something to write about today.
River Day
We always (try) to go to the river when we have an extra orthodontist trip.
Which happened last week.
Retro Apron Project
A friend asked me to make her a pink apron. She has a retro apron for me to copy its style. I tried to find a picture online and this is the closest I could find. You can’t see the top of the apron in that picture (great picture, isn’t it? beautiful scenery!) but the [...]
“Beginner to Blogger in 4 Weeks” e-Course
Enough people have written to me to ask how I’ve done this or that with my blog (and I don’t know that much, believe me) that I feel I should share some an exciting opportunity with you. Are you interested in blogging or having your own website? Are you wanting to get off wordpress.com or blogger and host a blog/site on your own domain, but don’t even know where to start? Then this 4-week e-course is just what you need! I wish it had been around when I started; it would have saved me much time!
Green Guest
Meet Mr. Silly Putty. Mikah invited him to dinner and Naomi poked him full of toothpick holes. He currently resides on the dining room window.
How Do You Read?
I love email subscriptions. Let me say that again, in other words.
I love email subscriptions for keeping up with my favorite blogs and websites.
I’ve tried — bouncing around on the web — google reader — bloglines — they are all just more websites to visit. So I don’t visit. I have not enough time and [...]
Kites
We purchased some rip-stop nylon kites yesterday, a gift for the kids from their Grandma (Jeff’s mom). Haniya and Mikah put theirs together and tested them in the church parking lot, while waiting for Naomi to finish her piano lesson. None went aloft, but trying them out was sure fun!
