Umpqua River Revisited

haniya-mikah-2

We went to the river again yesterday. The sun felt so good. Just enough warmth to warm our stay. We couldn’t stay long enough. And today we are going back. We have to go to the orthodontist and plan to make it a fun trip.

Trouble!

trouble

Meet Trouble. He’s just few months old. Our friends ran out of grass on their place, so he came here to get fat. Yes, that means he is going to be butchered. Our friends are going to share him with us. Usually, we take a long time to consider such moves. Not this time. His [...]

Baby Snake

Baby Snake

Jeff brought home a baby snake yesterday, a surprise for the kids. That is his kind of surprise. We’ll take it!

Our Goat Family

Starle with his mom Jasmine

The goats who recently joined our family our Nigerian Dwarfs. They are sweet and friendly, for the most part. We love having them around. They love to have us around, too. They seem to be missing the kids during these two weeks that the kids are away. They really clamor for Jeff and I to [...]

Just a Really Long Post

Buck

Apparently my life is all about animals. I’ve never been an animal lover. I doubt I will be. But I enjoy watching them and it is a wonder to me that I now enjoy visiting and petting our new goats. They’re very sweet. The eight of them left the rest of the herd with their [...]

The Weekend in Photos

Jeff on the tractor

Jeff started out Saturday morning with the weed wacker, to trim our walking trails. He ran out of gas right by the pump-house and stopped in there to check on it. Found a leak! (Which he repaired on Sunday.) Since we are planning on updating our water system imminently anyway, he began work on that [...]

Adjusting to Our Goat Family

Goats on the pad

We know that are certain things that must be figured out. In the meantime, our little goats are joys! The first day the goats were scared and wouldn’t venture off into the tall grass much. In fact, they still don’t do that. But they don’t seem scared anymore. When the kids walk the trail on [...]

Peacocks!

Peacocks 1

Our morning visitors… a mating pair of peacocks! Jeff heard them on Sunday evening, nearby to where he was in the woods. Then last night, he found out the sounds were from peacocks; they came within 5 feet of him while he was tying up loose ends on the fencing. He has that effect on [...]

We Got Our Goats!

Our New Goats!

We’re done enough with our fencing to bring our goats over here. They are all from our neighbor. She gave the kids eight goats as payment for all the work they’ve done for her. There are three babies and each baby’s momma, making six. And then two others — Annie, a one year old who [...]

Jack Rabbit and Three Bucks

Jack Rabbit

We see a jack rabbit just about every morning when we go walking. This morning, this jack rabbit was also around when Jeff was eating breakfast, right under the dining room window. I took this picture through the window. He was munching like crazy on the seeds of the weeds growing there. We didn’t realize [...]
