My Simple Little Manifesto

Manifesto is a big word and probably not suited to what this is. Still, this is what I called it when I wrote it down about four months ago. My simple little manifesto is a simple little list of simple little things that make a big, big difference in my outlook.

Delegating Chores

naomi-bbq

I have learned to delegate because it is a necessity. Sometimes things just need to be done and I simply can’t do them all. Boy, do my kids fill in the gap! This has been wonderful for all of us. I’m going to work on organizing what I delegate — so we have a plan. But for now, I am content to reflect on all the things the kids can now do because they’ve had to. :) In this post, I also share some ideas I have for planning out chore delegation.

By My Spirit

One way to categorize people is by how they react to difficulties or disappointments. Our gut response is either to look inwardly or outwardly for where the blame lies. I tend to do the former. Yet I can’t fix everything. So I’m making a promise to God that I will do my best but leave the results up to Him. Are you with me?

Project: Life Organized

wardeh-square

This post is the first of a series meant to chronicle my attempts (with God’s help) to better manage my life. The last year and half have been wonderful and trying on many levels. With the addition, work, growth and success of GNOWFGLINS eCourse, some parts of my life fell into varying levels of disorder and mismanagement. Yet — I’m thankful for what the last year and a half have revealed. In the coming weeks (and for however long it is useful), I will share personal reflections, practical steps I’m taking to schedule and manage my life and household, tools I’m using or discovering to help me manage my household and business, and Lord willing… results!

Wildflower Walk

Jeff made me take a break on Saturday to walk around our property enjoying the wildflowers, aka dandelions, daisies, wild rose, lemon balm and other unidentifieds. He really had to twist my arm, I’m telling you. ;)

Garden Update

harvesting-lettuce

We are gardening with friends this year, helping out with their large garden in exchange for food. We go out there weekly and do what needs to be done. Each week, we can’t wait to go! The time we spend there is great family time. We work and laugh together — priceless times. Beginning a garden is alot of work without much payoff — yet. But we’re beginning to see fruit.

HomeKeeper’s Journal

Mushrooming: Chanterelles

Mikah was the Mushroom King

Our local friends, Beth and Kerry Olson, of B & K Natural Farm (pastured poultry and eggs) invited us to accompany them on a mushrooming day. Of course we said yes, as it has been a life long dream of ours to learn more about this! Beth and Kerry have been mushroomers for 30 years, and have explored many areas of Oregon and Colorado over the years.
