In my kitchen ……. I had a busy Mother’s Day weekend, with lots of yummy eats!
On my mind today …… researching getting a Jersey cow.
Something that makes me feel rather touchy …….. making mistakes, ah, if only I didn’t.
One goal for this week is ….. to cut back on chocolate.
What I’m reading …… nothing, and trying to keep it that way! When I read, I don’t get my work done! But my mother-in-love Judy gave me some books that are calling my name…
One individual I am praying for ….. a friend who is newly pregnant.
I am looking forward to …… being done with the eCourse and starting it all over again!
On the Back Burner of my mind …… wanting to put together an emergency herb/medicine kit for people and animals but I don’t know where to start.
I see God moving ……. in my family, on our homestead, and with our business. God is good and His blessings are great, and His love even more massive!

Nice to see Such Treasure back.
I’ve been actively working towards getting and keeping a family cow. Not sure if it will be a Jersey. I found a farm near us that raises Dexters and Belted Galloways. They are dual purpose breeds. We’re still working on the fencing, though so we’re not quite ready.
Cut back on chocolate???? :-0
Many years ago we got a cow. After we got her home we discovered she had mastitis. Took her right back and went back to raising milk goats.
Do you have lots of pasture? It would be SO nice to have a cow. But of course I adore my goats too and I don’t really have room for a cow. Have you considered electric fencing?
Hi, Marg! Oh, that’s exciting. I was wondering how your cow hunt was coming. We really liked Dexters when we read about them. I’ve never heard of Belted Galloways – another mini?
I called on two Jerseys today that are in milk and pretty young. Each have downsides – one small teats and the other low yield.
It is hard to think of spending $1000+ on an animal that isn’t quite the best, but I hear that Jerseys are expensive no matter what.
Yolanda – Yes! Too much chocolate.
I am so curious how I will like a cow compared to goats. We do love our goats! We have 5-1/2 acres, which is a bit too much for the goats we have. Since goats and cows eat different pasture offerings, we think it would work well for a cow or two and the goats to keep up with it.
I haven’t finished researching but I don’t think belted galloways are miniature. Here is the url of the farm near us: http://www.rosewoodfarm.biz Dh and I thought a plus to buying from them would be having a bull so close for breeding purposes without having to keep our own. I like that the belted galloways are polled. I’m not interested in having anymore animals with horns. :s Dh is going to contact them this weekend. We’ll see what happens.
Yes, it seems a family cow is expensive but also quite priceless, especially if you find a good one.
Marg, that is a great benefit to have a bull nearby. Keep me posted! I’m excited for you. That looks like a super farm.
Wardeh, I didn’t realize you had another blog! How do you find time to do it all?? amazing! It seems I have the same interests as you… homeschooling, Nourishing Traditions, homesteading, etc.
We are looking into a family cow too and really wanted a Jersey, who wouldn’t, with all the rich cream they produce but for the price they are, I just don’t think we really need THAT much milk. So was leaning toward the dexter, since they are smaller, eat less and would still produce more than enough for our needs. Wish I knew someone with a dexter before I took the plunge though. What have you decided on the cow??
Tammy – Ha, ha, yesterday is the first time I posted here in months. I simply haven’t had time for it. But I missed it, so I’m going to try to fit it in. I used to do alot of sewing and I can’t do that anymore. But the homestead has to go on, so I can write about that….
We haven’t decided anything about the cow yet. Probably won’t take the 2 that have come up as their downsides seem significant for the asking price. We’ll probably keep looking. Thanks for stopping by!
Wardeh, I just did my survey at GNOWFGLINS and now after reading this blog I’d like to add that an herbal course is also something that I’d like to see in a future ecourse there. I just didn’t realize that this was something in your area of expertise. Something along the lines of the herbmentor videos would be cool.

Hi, Wardeh!
I really like everything about you!!!! I have one question for you about homeschooling. Why do you think it is better then public shool???
