Helen, my understanding is that shipping fever complex can result in pneumonia or pink eye or worm infestation or susceptibility to other illnesses. I'd say not urinating means that his rumen was compromised. Poor Browny. I'm sorry for your daughter, Helen. I don't know very much - but your teacher is probably right. I don't think they always have to have respiratory symptoms.

My daughter recently had her FFA goat Browny die. The teacher said that she thought it might have been "shipping fever". The only question that I have is; do they always have resperatory problems at the beginning? Browny wasn't urinating either, even though we made sure he was getting plenty of water.

Michelle - thank you!

Today I am happy to report that the baby, Daisy, has made a full recovery. It is a joy to see her playing and eating (and pooping) again! Her mom is still not well. We began a course with a different antibiotic yesterday. Having animals is alot like having babies, as you know, I'm sure!

Aw! You poor dears, all of you! I hope the goats get better soon! Hopefully their hardiness will prevail.

My friend highly recommends Nutri-Drench too, she says it gives a huge boost to sick babies, that they almost instantly revive and show more energy.

Good luck!
