As I write this, I am walking on the treadmill! I saw this idea (to make a treadmill desk) on the internet totally by accident yesterday. This lady and her husband built an inexpensive desk that mounted to the treadmill’s arms which allowed her to work and walk at the same time, improving her health.
I don’t want to drill into the treadmill’s arms, so I am improvising (for the moment, but possibly for the long-term) by putting the extra leaf from the table across the treadmill’s arms. The leaf is heavy and sturdy and not going anywhere.
You might think I’m crazy, well, you might not. I hope you don’t, but if you do, I don’t care.
But the sad fact is that I spend more and more time on the computer. Not only do I have my two websites, therre are a handful of others that I administrate. Add to that that I am working on a big project, and paying billsĀ online, and keeping up with email, and … on and on … This hobby of having a web presence is mkaing me sedentary, much like having an office job. I keep up with cooking and cleaning, but what I haven’t kept up with is keeping in shape. The sedentary activity of working on the computer keeps me from being active as I used to be — chasing toddlers, sewing, yard work, cooking, etc. Now I don’t mind that the kids are growing up, or that we don’t have a garden yet, or that I’ve simplified cooking way down (yet stillĀ being healthy), but I do mind that my mid-section is expanding. So I want to walk and work.
On to the topic of this post. It was fun to sew with my friend yesterday and I decided that it is time for me to devote sewing time to adding to my spring and summer wardrobe. I need to make more shorts and long pants out of linen — like these. They are my everyday wear in spring and summer, so I could use a few more choices. I also want to make more of the tank tops I wear with the shorts and/or pants. I want to use light-weight wool (yes, even in summer, did it last summer and stayed cool) and find a nice lycra blend.
One of the reasons I wand to do this is that I’m getting tired of all my black and brown clothes. I already have some blue, green and wheat colored linen, in addition to some lighter browns. That will be good. I have a wheat/tan color of light-weight wool jersey. But for the tanks, I want to find some bright colors, like magenta, teal, bright blue, and pink. I’m shocking myself. But I’m ready for color!
Do you have any summer/spring sewing plans?

WOW, what can I say? My beautiful daughter-in-love is ready to wear pink! Watch the color in your cheeks come out and your eyes will sparkle. Good choice!
As you know, I’m always ready for color. Bring it on. You’ll look great!
I love the treadmill “desk”. I can’t read and do the treadmill – I get seasick! No kidding. I am so happy you can! We would hate to have you give up blogging for your waistline. I’m all for anything that keeps you in touch with the rest of us. Love, Mary
Bright colors – you ARE shocking me, Wardeh!
And they will look so cheerful and nice on you. Can’t wait to see!
Love,
Julieanne
No sewing plans, whatsoever. I never learned to sew.
But I love the idea of using the computer & the treadmill at the same time! Genius.
So, I see you’re all voting for pink! I have to find the right pink, you know. Haniya has a shirt (from you Judy) that is a deep, deep pink like magenta. That’s the color I want~
Last night I cut out shirts in wheat, red, and a medium brown. They are all lighter than my usual colors.
Love, Wardeh
You will look great in colour, Wardeh… alright, now that comment sounds like you’re in black-and-white TV! Just joking… Magenta, teal, medium blue and deep pink are my favourite colours ever.
You will look GREAT in color! Go for it! How DO you find the time to do everything? Any tips?
May I make a plug for jewel toned colors (for the autumn maybe?). I think that they will look great with your coloring.
Oh, Mom! Your “mid-section” isn’t expanding.
But I’m sure the colors are gonna look great! D
Your Daughter,
Naomi Marie
Thank you, sweet, sweet Naomi! Love, Mama
