Time of Training
Lately has been a time of training for me and the kids. Funny to say that when Mikah, the youngest, is 8-1/2, but all of us — me included — have some habits to break. So a couple times a day, we have these trainings, where we have a set amount of things to accomplish (usually chores) and we all practice being cheerful, obedient, kind, focused and thorough. I am doing this on the advice of a friend, to help us get in a different groove with our thinking and how we approach life and responsibilities.
I Know It Has Been Awhile
And I promise to write something more in-depth tomorrow. Okay? In the meantime, you can check out my Spelt Lemon Cake recipe. Or some Divine Spelt Biscuits. Or join the No-GMO Challenge. Lately I’ve made a skull cap for a man overseas. Drafted a pattern for a linen overdress for a friend. Kept the kitchen [...]
Sunburned in April

We made another unplanned trip to the orthodontist yesterday, for Haniya to get a band put back on. We made a day of it and went to River Forks Park on the Umpqua River. The kids love that place! We were surprised that not many people had the same idea, it being a fantastic day in Oregon in April. But school is still in session, so that would explain it. Some friends joined us there; it was great. Really great. We are all sunburned. That was another surprise.
CD/DVD Storage on Bookshelf

Haniya finished up the monumental job of minimizing and organizing all our CDs and DVDs. Here are two boxes of CDs and two boxes of DVDs, fitting in a small space on the bookshelf. The contents of these boxes were previously taking up space in a huge cupboard (now given over to much needed space for storing mason jars) and a drawer.
Naomi’s Pants

Naomi finished a second pair of pants after starting out the other day. The pants she is wearing in this picture are from rip-stop cotton blend that I got for pennies at the thrift store. I have enough to make everyone at least one pair of outside sturdy pants. I am chagrined to read what I wrote the other day about how easily Naomi could make the brown linen pants that were the beginning of this escapade.

Oregon April

Ironically, I am about to post pictures of apparently-truly-spring-like weather in Oregon in April. The irony: today it is snowing. My toes are freezing. But on with the show, folks… it was warm a few days ago when these were taken. Mikah was laughing at his dad. Those two really enjoy each other. We had [...]
