Well, guess what the kids found to do Tuesday afternoon? And look how prettily Mikah presented it to me! Thankfully, he wasn’t making a gift of it to me; he brought it inside so I could take a picture.
And boy, were the kids dirty after digging for these little buggers!

Yes, we were dirty, but it was very fun!!!

I know they are God’s creations, but, ewwwwwww. This picture creeps me out. I am so weird – but, I’m one of God’s creations too!
That is really very cool! I don’t think any of those little buggers are alive here yet. Soon!
Yeeeew! I can see a snail, two earthworms and a couple of mushrooms… But what on earth is that big thing? Is it a snail from a strange angle? Or some kind of grub?
Your kids are already naturalists! They remind me a lot of the young Gerald Durrell. Do you know his books about adventures with animals? Very interesting, and funny to boot!
Marta, the two creepies you think are earthworms are really millipedes. The big, gross blob is a banana slug. We have lots of those in Oregon! Love, Wardeh
Oooh, that is so cool! We found newts last weekend.
