At a Birthday Party

We went to a friend’s sixth birthday party yesterday. We are very good friends with this family and any time spent there is a great blessing. They are gifted in sharing godly hospitality and love. In addition, their large property is very kid-friendly, which is a nice change since ours is a disaster of mud and goat poop.  I, in particular, feel refreshed after the fellowship. And that’s not only because the kids can play and stay relatively clean! Here are some pictures of the kids while eating cake.

When I see Haniya in company, she blows me over. She is 11 but I feel sometimes she is 16. She is lovely and composed and a great friend. The other day we were talking about where we’d be in 10 years and she pointed out that she would be an adult in 10 years. Me, a mother of a 21 year old???? In just 10 years??? I don’t think so!!! (Since I rarely duplicate my punctuation marks, take note that I’m overcome.)

Naomi and Mikah were flushed from great outside play. They played soccer, among other things. Just a great afternoon! I feel thankful for my children to have good friends. We love living out in the country, and we love that our life is not rush-rush but centered around the home, but days like we just enjoyed make me wish that our close friends could be neighbors, that our lives could intertwine with special friends more regularly. I hope the Lord grants that to us someday.

What a lovely post. I too am overwhelmed at the thought of my children becoming adults someday. Yours seem very happy and with great attitudes. I’m glad you had such a great time with your friends, and I too dream of having dear friends for neighbors someday.

Having a 21 yo son, I know too well how fast time flies! I remember thinking the same thing you are, it seems like just last month.

I have 2 wonderful neighbors! We have made it a tradition that us women get together 3x a year on each other’s birthdays. It’s a great way to keep in touch amidst their busy schedules. All 3 of us always look forward to those dates that happen to be spaced in the spring, fall and winter.

Time does pass so quickly. My oldest son is going to be 38 this year.(my youngest, the baby ;-) of four will be 24) I cannot believe it.(I won’t mention my age.)But my children have become wonderful adult friends now and good Christians. And now I am enjoying helping out with 7 grandies. Life is sweet! Blessings.
