Here are two shots of me in a hat. Hmm… which color was I wearing? You’ll have to imagine! It could be one of the six colors shown above; I can’t decide which one to keep for myself.
I crocheted the earflap/neckflap hats from baby-soft 100% merino wool Swish Worsted yarn from knitpicks.com. Do you think I’ve made enough trial hats? I know writing this that I risk coming across as crazy, vain and/or obsessive for constructing them all in my decision making process! Let me assure you: I am none of the above (so say I).
For myself, I think I’ve ruled out the Coast Grey and the Fired Brick, even though they are so pretty, especially the Fired Brick . The red is too colorful and the grey is too light and not colorful enough. Still in the running: Jade, Dublin, Black (of course), and Dark Navy.
Which do you think I should choose? You can vote for the grey or red, if you’d like. I look forward to reading your answers!
(I could keep all of them, which would be very indulgent, but I’d rather sell the others in my etsy shop or in a local bookstore/country store.)

With your lovely dark hair, I’d pick a jewel tone. My picks are the jade or dark navy.
I’m with Sangeeta. I also think the brick red is awesome. You look beautiful in color, my dear Wardeh. Don’t be afraid to wear it! Remember, God loves color; He gave it to us; and He used vibrant colors in constructing the tabernacle. Color makes us look alive and joyful. So, go for the color!
Love,
Your Mom in Love
Ummmm, I would personally pick the navy for you. Just a hint of color so that the hat does not blend in with your hair. But dark enough to not scream “Look at my head!”.
You’re beautiful!
I also love the jewel colours for dark hair, especially jade and fired brick. I do think just wearing a colourful hat is not really too much colour, as it would be if you wore a bright red winter jacket, for instance. It is just a touch. And I love meself a touch of colour to light up wintry days!
I really enjoy your blog. I read you from Spain!
Wardeh, I think the navy would really compliment your coloring. Of course the jade is one of my favorite colors!
I think the Dublin is rather lovely. Not to bright but enough color to cheer you up on dreary winter days.
Well, to me you are stunningly beautiful no matter what, especially through the eyes of love, but here goes. Grey and Dublin are out–too drab for you. Black compliments your eyes but it would blend too much with your hair, as Robin expresses and I agree. Navy, jade and brick red each would look great, and I vote to keep all three, depending on your mood of the moment. I really love the hat pattern Wardeh!! Mom
P.S. Were you wearing the red one in the above picture?
I’m sure the brick would be lovely on you, but I would have to know what your coat color was to decide for sure. My dd16 just knitted a hat and scarf for me in the dark navy. She also gifted a brooch to me for Christmas that matches the set. It’s just wonderful.
Tammy, my coats are always black.
How wonderful the gifts you received from your daughter.
Love, Wardeh
Mom… no.
You all are so great… I might have to keep ALL the hats to show you my appreciation for your wonderful comments and feedback! Love, Wardeh
My vote is the Jade, just a bit of muted color but not so dark that it would blend in with your hair.
So is there a giveaway for the person/people that guess the right color?
Wardeh – I would selfishly vote for Fired Brick because bright is beautiful in my book as you know and I bet you look great in it. However, thinking of you and YOUR preferences and likes, I would go for the jade. Are you wearing Dublin in the photo? I like the dublin too. Love, Mary
Okay…. I chose.
Jade.
(And I think I’ll keep the black one, too.)
Pictures coming soon, maybe not until I get my new camera.
Thanks, everyone!
Love, Wardeh
