The Week Ahead

My husband is going out of town again this week, and then hopefully not for a long time. Last week he was in Bend, OR for a manager’s conference for his company. This week he will be at the company’s training center for new manager’s training. So far, his job is keeping him very busy. We hardly see him. :( We know this will get better once he gets firm grasp on what is expected of him and the best way to do things. There have been several emergencies he’s had to deal with such as theft and power outages due to forest fires. Yesterday, he was so close to going for a helicopter patrol of a transmission line. Wouldn’t that have been cool? But it got too late in the day and today he is too busy to go along on the rescheduled ride.

I never go to bed on time when he is gone. So I’m planning some projects for myself to do in the evenings after the kids have gone to sleep. Okay, I have too many projects to do — he’s only going to be gone for 3 nights! I checked out some movies from the library. I have a new book to read which you might have seen in my sidebar at GNOWFGLINS™: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. I started knitting a wool scarf for Naomi. I have some writing to do. It’s time to start making the kids their fall/winter jammies. I want to make myself a couple of knit nightgowns, too. And of course, I could always use sleep.

  1. I know how you feel! Josh is in the military and it NEVER gets easier to see him leave. I wouldn’t want it to.

Hang in there! Watch some old movies and have some special activities to pass the time.

    Blessings!
    Lacy

(((Wardeh))) I am sorry Jeff is leaving for the week. I wish I could share a cup of tea with you. I know you will accomplish a lot this week, though. Hugs, Robin

(I will pray for you to feel occupied this week)

Thank you, Robin! The week is going very well so far. I do miss him, but I think I’m finally getting used to him being away. That’s kind of sad! It’s not that I want him to be away, but you know what I mean? Love, Wardeh

Lacy, now I know why Josh is out of town frequently. Somehow I missed that he was in the military. How often is he gone? I have been filling my time and doing okay. Thank you so much! Love, Wardeh

    Hi Wardeh~
It is really hard when hubby is away for a long time~ I usually plan a trip to my family in N. Or :)

Rand will be pulling a 72 hr. shift later this month so we’ll be in the same boat then!
When Rand is gone and the children are in bed is my time to be alone and rest, so it is hard to go to bed early. I have learned to make the most of it by reading through some books by Thomas Kinkaid or Emily Barnes to restore my soul, or some beautiful art books. ~Christina

Christina, your evenings alone sound wonderful! I hope we will see your family very soon. Love, Wardeh
