I never can tell when the bug will hit. This one hit after 3 pm yesterday afternoon, not normally the time I start something new. But the sewing room was a mess, so I figured it was as good a time as any. I sorted through and organized things, moved one of the long tables out to the front porch (we needed a table out there for eating anyway), and consolidated to move the computer desk into the corner in that room. I should mention that the kids were big helps. They are old enough to be helpful, and young enough to still think that rearranging is fun!
Even though I’m going over and over it in my mind, I can’t figure out what to do in the living room. Its present arrangement is awkward, yet I can’t think of another way to fit it all in plus a piano. So I’ll have to keep thinking about that room.

Maybe if you posted a floor plan or pictures of the living room we could help you figure out a better arrangement.
Wardeh,
) One thing that helped me was letting go of the front room being “sitting room” for company. Since you don’t frequently host formal company, your house should really be set up to work for you guys. Would it work any better if some of the family/sewing room furniture was swapped with the living room furniture?
I spent two whole years rearranging furniture when we moved into this house. (I actually did some more the other day after a long break
Kate, thank you for that suggestion. You were here and saw our living room. The living room needs to stay being the room where our couches and TV are. We like to watch our movies and can’t do that in the family room where the glare from the pellet stove makes viewing the TV difficult. But moving the computer to the family room turned that into more of a work room and I like that. Now in the family are the sewing/computer. But the treadmill is in the family room too and in the winter I know it is going to be hard to walk when the pellet stove is on (too hot!). I wanted to move it to the LR, but there’s not enough room. The wall is sort of free in there where the computer was but I don’t know if it is enough space for a piano. Anyway… I’m still thinking about it as you can see. Your suggestions are good!
Thanks! Love, Wardeh
