Renew My Strength, Lord

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint… Isaiah 40:31

Write about a time when you waited for something from God.

I am waiting now for some things. I know that God will give them in His time. This is hard for me to do, to wait. I hear God reminding me to trust His timing. So I try. This process is similar to what I’m doing with my posture. I am working on retraining my posture to help my sensitive neck area. Every so often, as often as I remember to do it, I reset my shoulder and pelvis and neck into the correct position because they relax. Some thing with my worries. I have to hit the reset button, so to speak, turning all my thoughts and anxiety  completely over to God’s care and timing.

Are there times when you feel weary? In light of the scripture today, what are you going to do with your weariness in the future?

I always feel weary. Always! But the verse that Sylvia shared from Isaiah is one of my favorites! To run and not be weary. To walk and not faint!

As a family, we read from God’s Word this morning in the book of John. In chapter 5, verse 29 Jesus said: “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” And He also said (verse 25), “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” This got me thinking, or rather, reminded me, that the most important work of my life is believing in Jesus, God’s Son. And then I was reminded that everything I need, He supplies.

What will I do with my weariness in the future? I will first ask myself if what I’m doing is worth doing. In the case of my family, doing the cooking, cleaning, homeschooling, yes, all that is worth it. I know I can, and I should, ask the Lord to renew my strength and help me keep up with those demands. I also know that caring for myself is important. That is why I try to get a good night’s sleep every night and also why I exercise and eat well.

I am grateful, beyond grateful, to love and serve a God who cares for me. Thank you, Lord for your promise to renew my strength.

Oh, oh! I have come back to this entry to add one of my favorite Bible verses. This is another verse that makes a promise of God’s renewal: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
