Haniya and Naomi finished this quilt today. We began it months ago. It wasn’t hard to do, just hard to find time. Most days, the girls would rather play with their goats than sew.
This quilt is for our new nephew, Braydon. When his older brother was born, I made a quilt (see here for the directions for that one). But now, Haniya and Naomi are good enough seamstresses that we figured they could make this one. They did everything except the binding. This quilt is super!
I will tell you, but would like to keep it secret from the baby’s mom, that the quilt is made from thrift store flannel sheets. You can see there are three colors. Haniya has the back flipped over so you can see the lighter blue color on the back. We used leftover batting from other quilting projects. Considering that each of the three sheets cost about $2, the total cost of this project was a whopping $6.
The quilt is about 55 inches by 55 inches. There are 36 squares from 3 colors of fabric. We cut 9-1/2 inch squares, allowing for 1/2-inch seam allowance (finished square size is 9-inch). Good job, girls!

Girls, how absolutely beautiful!!! What a fine gift from the heart…wonderful job! warm hugs
