Ten Things

First, thank you to Sylvia and Sangeeta for adding your own phrase clouds to my post of yesterday! I loved them!

Second, when will allergy season be over?????? This is just about the worst year ever. I haven’t slept for weeks because of being all stuffed up and itchy.

Third, the stupid thing I did yesterday. I dropped six heavy-duty stainless steel bread pans on my foot. An accident of course. Ouch. Nothing broken. I saw stars for about 10 minutes. Naomi made me lay down (thank you, sweetheart). Very sore foot today.

Fourth, I chopped up a stained raglan-sleeve t-shirt of Mikah’s this morning, to make a pattern from which to make his t-shirts. I won’t be able to sew any shirts until this evening probably. Jeff will be doing the oil change on his tractor, so that means hobby time for me.

Fifth, had a visit from friends yesterday. The Lord brings us so many blessings and yesterday was no exception. I really, really enjoyed talking with my friend and really needed the encouragement she gave me about homeschooling.

Sixth, are you bored yet from my very exciting life? I’m telling you, the excitement never stops around here. We are about to have lunch and then will go into town for our Wednesday errands. Because of not sleeping well, I am so tired. I do not want to go. I am also wondering how painful shoes will be? (See #3.)

Seventh, I am trying to make it to the tenth thing.

Eighth, the kids are leaving on Sunday morning. That is four days away, not counting today.

Ninth, I picked up “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” again and read more of it last night when I couldn’t sleep. Pastoral Organic is the way to go (versus Big Organic).

Tenth, I made it! Breathe easy.

    Wardeh,
I was just wondering if you have tried homeopathy for yourself and Mikah? I have a friend whos son has terrible seasonal allergies. He gets a treatment once or twice per year (I think), and it REALLY helps him.
I love homeopathics, they have helped me alot.

Just read the PC – in addition, have you ever tried a yeast cleanse? My husband used to have awful allergies, but after doing a yeast cleanse they only flare up when he eats sugar. ;)

Also, I had a question for you – would you consider doing a post about breakfast? Since we are egg free around here and also have blood sugar issues, I am baffled by breakfast. It costs SO much to eat turkey bacon/sausage and rice cereal every day, but I haven’t found anything else edible in the morning. I know you have some cereal recipes, and I’ve thought about trying them, but we need protein as well. Any suggestions?

Sweet sweet Wardeh! You are just the most precious woman! I love reading/hearing your thoughts. :D

HUGE hugs and praying for you to be allergy-free soon, Robin

It does seem to be the worst season yet for allergies Wardeh, I am sorry you are feeling so badly, could it possibly be goat dander or the sust on the goats?[pollen plus goat equals dusty goats]

I am praying for you dear one..hang in there..warm loving hugs

Hmmm.. And the anti-allergy medication/antihistamine aren’t working at all?

Tiffany — I’ve tried a bit of homeopathy, but it is a remedy that I take under the tongue during the onslaught of symptoms. It doesn’t help. I am curious what kind of homeopathic treatment would only need 1-2 treatments per year? It must be something different. If you have time, I’d love to hear about it.

Sara Kay — No, I’ve never done a yeast cleanse. Can you point me to a resource so I could look it up? (Website, book, etc.) I’m ready to try anything! I’d be happy to do a breakfast post. Right off the top of my head, would a cereal with high quality grains like quinoa and amaranth (both of which have a complete amino acid profile) and a nut milk provide enough protein?

    Robin — You’re a dear! :D

Mona — I’m sure it isn’t the goats. Just the grass pollens. This area grows most of the grass seed for the country (possibly the world). I know it will be over soon. Thank you for your hugs!

Sangeeta — Well, the antihistamine works for awhile, if… I take it! I do take it when I’m desperate but it wears off while I’m sleeping and then I wake up miserable.

Everyone — I think I’ve been complaining too much judging by all your kind and helpful responses! ;)

  7. Lol. Love this post, Wardeh.

    Wardeh,
The homeopathy I am talking about is where they use a Biomeridian machine. It hooks up to a computer and then they check the pressure points in your hands and feet. The computer then can tell you what is out of balance, and they administer homeopathics to fix the inbalance. They also can test just for allergies, and have treatments for those as well. That is the test I took to see what I am allergic to. Luckily for me I don’t have seasonal allergies, I am just very sensitive to almost everything else, especially chemicals. I tried to see if either of the clinics I have gone to have websites, so you could read more indepth about the procedure, but neither of the clinics have websites. I could give you phone #’s if you wanted to call and just ask about it.
My husband has had allergies pretty bad this year also. His eyes look like he has been crying, so I keep teasing him. But he gets me back everytime he sneezes, they come fast and are very loud, so I practically jump out of my skin.
    Good luck.
    love,
    tiffany

Tiffany, I am sorry for your husband, as I know just how he feels. Thankfully, the allergy season is just about over. I am feeling so much better.

I have tried that treatment before with our naturopath, but not for allergies specifically. She did it as an overall wellness testing. I took home some various treatments but didn’t notice any difference. I could inquire next year (at the beginning of allergy season) about doing it with her specifically for allergies. Thank you for mentioning it.

    Love, Wardeh
