Getting Ready for the Kids’ Trip
In a little less than two weeks, my children will make their yearly two-week trip to see Jeff’s parents and sister in California. Oh, I will miss them. Part of me gets excited about all the things I will get done, but that part is definitely overruled by the part that hates to see them go. Yet, they are going and I am happy for them and for Jeff’s family because of the special time they will spend.
My mom is retiring this fall and has informed me that the kids will have to spend some time in Montana also, starting next summer. In all fairness, this is the right thing to do. But how am I going to be away from the kids for four weeks each summer?
I have some sewing to do to get them ready. Haniya and Naomi need tank tops, Mikah needs short sleeve t-shirts. Mikah needs boxers. I purchased socks for all of them, and panties for the girls, last week. We also bought some tennis shoes for Haniya and sandals for Naomi. I looked for sandals for Mikah but couldn’t find any. This is a brief rant: shoes are getting worse and worse. They are almost not functional at all and purely decorative.
Haniya and Naomi have to finish tyeing a quilt for their cousin, our new nephew, so they can give that to him when they are there. Other than packing, I think that is all we have to do to prepare.
Mikah is already packed, no matter how much I discouraged him from doing it already. He even has his bags by the front door. That was last week, three weeks before departure. He insists he has everything he needs and that I don’t need to go through it. Yeah, right. ![]()

Wow! Is it that time of year already? I remember the last couple of years when they went. I wonder what projects you have planned for that time? I am wanting to start some lap quilts and aprons. Maybe I will sew along “with you” when your Treasures are in California.
I know you will miss them so. My heart aches for you. But, as you say, they always have a wonderful time.
Have a nice evening! Hugs, Robin
Robin, yes, it is that time of year, again!
That would be fun to work on projects together during that time. I would treasure that.
I am making my list and I’ll be sure to share what I’m working on!
Love, Wardeh
“But how am I going to be away from the kids for four weeks each summer?”
I was just thinking… What if they spent one week at each Grandparent’s home? This would give each of them time to have a wonderful time with their sweet Grandchildren and you and they wouldn’t have to be seperated for quite so long.
Just a thought.
Hugs, Robin
Robin, thank you for that thought! You’re very sweet to come back and offer the suggestion. God bless you for your kindness! Love, Wardeh

Christina, hello! How good to hear from you. I am always thinking about you, your family and little Gabriel! I just know that he blesses your life and wish I was there to see it. I’m sure that Judy plans to have a get-together this year, although we haven’t discussed it. I hope you’ll be around! The kids will have less time than usual because some of the trip will be spent up at Lake Tahoe. Let’s talk soon, voice to voice! Much love to all of you~Wardeh
