Thrift Store Report
Yesterday, my biggest finds were sheets. And I really needed them. I have to fill an order for 15 tote bags by July 10th. One sheet has stripes of a blue denim color, soft white and grey. Another is a fun pink print that is not too overpoweringly bright. The last sheet is a really nice tan color. I also found a pair of Silvertab jeans for Jeff. I don’t think I found anything else. Haniya found a copy of Jane Austen’s “Emma.” She’s building up her own collection.
The tote bag order comes from a group having a retreat and they want to put the totes in their shop. I don’t have any color restrictions other than to make them fit the summer season. Therefore, that means no black.
I’m glad they specified because I often end up making darker colored items.
Speaking of totes, I stopped at the bookstore yesterday, where I have totes for sale. The reusable grocery shopping bags I made in April sold. That was a nice surprise and I already spent the profits — to pay for the stainless steel utensils I purchased to replace plastic.

I love old sheets. They are so soft and the colors are mellow. I also like to over-dye old sheets to make them even more mellow looking. Even bright prints can be made to look vintage and soft with a quick bath in some red or blue dye.
I am on the lookout for some sheets to make curtains with for the dining room. I have studied the roman shade pattern you sent me and I am about ready to make them for the living room, also out of old sheets.

I love old sheets, too. I like the idea of the over-dye. How do you know whether to choose red or blue?
I hope you find good sheets for your curtains — and I’m eager to see your finished shades.

Hello Dear Wardeh!
I just typed you up a really really long response and thought that it might be best to e-mail it to you.
Have a wonderful weekend, dear Wardeh! Hugs, Robin
I choose either red or blue depending on what I need the finished product to match. I haven’t tried green or yellow, but I think they would work. I don’t think it matters much what color the sheets are to begin with. If you dye them blue, all the colors snd up some shade of blue, red dye makes all the colors some shade of red. Watch the fabric while it is in the dye so it won’t get too dark. Calicoes are especially pretty when over-dyed.

Is there anything as lovely as cool and crisp sheets on a summer night? I love them! I actually iron our sheets for that very reason. Am I silly? Yes. I know. Crazy, huh!
Blessings!
