New Design, Needs Tweaking

What do you think of the new design for my site? Okay, I’m doing a little fishing for feedback!

This is my first adventure into the land of CSS coding from scratch. I started with the Sandbox theme from plaintxt.org.

There are bugs. They all appear in Microsoft Explorer. So, unfortunately, if you’re viewing my site with Explorer, you’re just not seeing the true theme! (Although it is close.) Might I suggest switching to the superior browser Mozilla?

I have some tweaking to do to make things line up just so. I also have some research to do for how to get past those darn MS Explorer bugs.

Hello Ms. I’m-Not-Technical doing CSS from scratch It looks great! Though I think the black sides are not quite you, it seems like you usually choose gentler colors? I think the font is a little harder to read too, a little thin; but I love the photos at the top and the layout. Very pretty!

I like it! The photos at the top are adorable and very “you”. And I can see your pictures now! With your old blog, I couldn’t always see your pictures. And I already use Firefox!

What a silly thing to say. Wardeh, of course animals experience emotions. Where have you been? Isn’t fear an emotion? Frustration? Loneliness? Depression? Joy? I”m glad you have goats because they will bring you great pleasure–God never made anything cuter than baby goats! (I like your new format. I am SO impressed.) I finally figured out what “etsy” is, but I couldn’t find your products. HOWEVER I did find a wonderful source of soy tealights! So thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Give your kids (and your kids) a hug for me…

Someone’s photographic eye (I bet yours) is capturing the personalities of each child perfectly! The pictures are beautiful. Yes, the new style is very good. I too wonder about the black perimeter but I speculate that the border color is meant to compliment the pictures. What would you think about a “soft black” color? You have been having a very stimulating Wednesday I see! Loved reading everything! Love, Mom

You might think black is not me because I’ve never found a use of it I like in any ready-to-go themes, but really, black is very me. Do you have any other objection to the black other than that you think it is not me? I will think on your font suggestion. About the technical issue, well. I can be technical if I want to, I guess!

I’m glad you can see the pictures now. I wonder why you couldn’t before?

Thank you! I love the pictures, too. The kids helped me choose which ones and it was unanimous which ones were best.

You are absolutely right. My goat comment was silly. I didn’t mean that they have NO emotions, but I meant that being shunned maybe wouldn’t bother a goat as much as it would me. How are you and your boys?

My dear Mom –

I like your idea of a softer black border. I will try it. The border is meant for contrast. I tried lighter colors and they didn’t set it off as well. We DID have a stimulating Wednesday! When we got home from town, the goats were climbing ALL over us to see what we brought home. It was too funny! Although the kids were frustrated because of how difficult it was to keep them out of the shop, where we parked.

Very nice! Wow. One thing I noticed is that the boxes for the commenting for “email” and “website” could be lengthened to see all the content.

It looks very nice and clean. So, do you host it on your own computer?

I also wonder if you have the option selected to add emoticons to your account…I should have a picture rather than ghost-man up there. GREAT WORK…you did a great job!

Thank you for suggesting that the boxes should be longer. I will look at lengthening them.

Regarding the avatar, the self-hosted blogs support avatars from gravatar.com not wordpress.com. It is so easy to set one up — I encourage you to do it!

I don’t host this on my computer. I chose a web host company (Lunarpages) for the hosting.
