UGH. Yuck.

Really. This is so frustrating. I am just going to vent for a few sentences and then my complaining will be over.

I just need guidance and I have no one. I really need my mom.

This sewing for myself is so difficult. The Simplicity 9891 that I mentioned yesterday… awful! I’ve tried three different things with the muslin and all of them… yuck. Nothing is flattering. When I look at pictures of medieval clothing, it seems to flatter most everyone. Why not me? I look awful and the whole process just makes me long for my heavenly body! Either it is the pattern, I have a body that just won’t work, or I don’t have skills enough to make something to suit myself.

Rant over. I’ll come back to this project on Monday, hopefully with a fresh perspective and renewed interest. Right now I’m sick of it all. I have a weekend of fencing to get my mind off it. And also, Jeff is coming home in an hour. When he’s home, I feel better. That and we’re having homemade chocolate ice cream tonight. ;)

  1. Oh Wardeh, I can relate. I hope you had more success or where able just to put it down a while. sometimes, just putting a project down for a while and thinking about it as I do other things, helps me to solve problems with the construction. Anyway, chocolate ice cream should make it all better. :D
Oh, p.s., I mailed your books Friday morning. :)
    Love

Thank you, Sylvia! CAN you relate? Aren’t you a perfect seamstress? :D

I have put it down for the weekend. I think it will go better Monday. I have other plans to use a shirt pattern that does fit me well for the bodice and extend it down with a full skirt.

The chocolate ice cream was wonderful! And I’m excited to get the books… thank you!

      Love, Wardeh

Oh Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaardehhhhhhhhh, I love you so much! It made my heart melt for you to say that you needed your mom. I hope it’s not raining there as you fence, and as it is here. I know that you will design the dress to perfection. Eliminate the waistline seam and have it flair out at a place below your natural waistline. I forget what the pattern is supposed to look like. (Sorry). Anyway, if anyone can make it work, you can, and Jeff will be a wonderful critique for how the draft dress looks on you. He has a great eye for that. Talk to you soon, I love you so!! Mom

Hi, there! I really do wish you were here. I feel better about it today though (Sun) and I’m ready to try again! There was no waistline seam in what I tried Friday, but what I’ll do is to eliminate the princess seams. They were so yuck! I’ve got a tank top shirt pattern that I really like and fits me well and I’m going to extend it down to the floor to see if it won’t work for an overdress. Otherwise, I have a friend who suggested that I make myself a pattern that fits me by wrapping myself in duct tape! :D I think it would work.

      Love you so much! ~Wardeh
