Thrift Store Report
Yesterday we went to the Goodwill Outlet. We’d never been there before. That’s the clearinghouse for all the unsold items from the Goodwill stores in the area. The kind of place where you pay by the pound — and a pound costs 99 cents.
This is what I found, weighing a total of a pound:
- A lambswool sweater from Old Navy, for Haniya
A brand new bra
A button down stretch shirt in fun spring colors
A brand new tea towel, aqua
To those items, I added a copy of Wuthering Heights for 25 cents. (Only to find out when we got home that I already have that book!) Also at that outlet, Haniya found 2 brand new Beethoven cassettes. They were 25 cents each.
Then at the pricier Goodwill Retail, I splurged on a set of three cobalt blue glass mixing bowls from Anchor Hocking. They are oven safe. That set was $7.99, more than I thought it should be. But then again, they’re good bowls and they looked brand new. Like I said, it was a splurge. ![]()
The final find was a brand new, shiny, stainless steel sippy cup, which we will give to my nephew for his birthday. That was 99 cents.
And that’s the thrift store report for the week. Did you notice I didn’t buy any sheets? I’m trying to cut back.

Goodwill Outlet? I had no idea such a thing existed? My wife and I love the local retail thrift shops. But we didn’t even think of the possibility of an outlet. I think I’ll have to research this in our area. Thanks.
I love the idea of a stainless steel sippy cup. Much nicer than plastic. I have never seen one. And Anchor Hocking has great quality glass, so I am sure you made a good buy!
Wardeh, congrats on your finds and on resisting the purchase of more sheets
You have me hooked on that idea, and now everytime I hit a thrift store, I’m looking for sheets! Especially since we will need lightweight jammies soon
Great bookmarks kids at the Bookstore… You did a wonderful job… Found your website from there….
Hi, Deanna! How fun to see you here! The kids are thrilled that you think they did a good job on the bookmarks. We should have told you already that we were doing them since you were the one who taught us how! We have had lots of fun making them and we’re happy that people are wanting to buy them! Hope to see you soon. Love, Wardeh
