Men’s Christmas Gifts
Go!
Naomi helped me get started on the men’s Christmas gifts. She pounded pumice for the pumice hand scrub, she picked cedar pine needles for the after shave, and she grated soap. At one point, she also flipped the Vita-Mix to HIGH too quickly which spurted soapy-borax-water all over the kitchen — oops! But no harm done.
Most everything is in process. The after shave is sitting in a bowl on the porch under a cover to stay cool and dry for 2 weeks. The shaving cream is cooling in a bowl on the counter. I hope it thickens more. Sylvia says it will, so I am trusting her. The pumice hand scrub is really still in progress. It will take awhile to pound 10 pumice stones into powder. Both Naomi and I are tired of that job. We’re 2/3 done. And finally, the shampoo bars are curing in a mold.
I couldn’t find any inexpensive containers locally, so I purchased some online from Specialty Bottle. I found flat metal jars with screw top lids (for the shaving cream and hand scub) and slimline bottles (for the after shave) for less than $1 each. I will put the shampoo bars in little cardboard boxes that were a free gift from Rebekah at The Soap Dish.

Well, how cool is that?! Just when I thought you’ve made everything there is to make, you make shaving cream.
I’m hoping that all the ingredients can be locally purchased. Off to check it out now! Hugs, Robin
Yeah, I know, that’s what I thought! It is the coolest thing to make. I think you’ll have to order stearic acid, though. Unless you have a candle & soap store nearby that sells more than token little packages of items. (That’s the kind of hobby store we have around here.) Love, Wardeh
