Our Family at the Harvest Banquet
The girls were so lovely in their dresses yesterday. We got up extra early (the time change helped) so they could wash and dry their hair in time for me to do French braids. Mikah wanted to wear the same shirt he wore last year.
Jeff’s beard is back and looks like its staying so he really did look like a man from the westward expansion. I wore a shawl that my Aunt Jean gave me at my wedding. The girls’ shawls came from a thrift store last year.

During service, the kids sang a song with their Sunday School class. They were great. The whole day was fabulous. It was a treat to see all the young ladies in the various dresses and skirts they made for the occasion. The Harvest Banquet at our church is the event of the year. We all enjoy getting ready for it and then the fellowship on that day.
Our pastor leads the adult Sunday School class. We are studying Hebrews. Do you ever learn something about God’s word and then wonder why you never got it before? That’s how I feel. I have always known that I have the promise of salvation through my belief in God’s Son, Jesus. What I am learning is that God also promised me a daily rest in Him, and that it is my sin (”lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” — Hebrews 3:13) that can, and does at times, keep me in a spiritual wasteland. I am praying that the Lord would help me yield to Him every moment of every day so that I can enter His rest every day.

Wardeh,
You guys are such a beautiful family! I love to see your family pictures. And yes, I know just what you mean about something finally getting into your spirit. I had the same thing happen to me on Sunday evening Bible study.
That is the BEST picture! Thank you so much for sharing it, it made my day :o)

Beautiful picture! I would love a copy too! When I come? Glad you had a great time on Sunday. It’s a wonderful church family for you! Love, Mom

Everyone looks gorgeous and I’m glad to read it was a wonderful time too.
Thank you — also for your help on the dresses! It helps to go over problems with someone who knows and can offer suggestions and encouragement. Love, Wardeh
Your family looks lovely. Your church’s event sounds wonderful.
Regarding your comment about studying Hebrews: I think that is one of the most lovely things about Scripture; God’s Spirit can give us revelation about something that we’ve just passed over a hundred times, making an “old” passage new and relevant to our situation today. I’ve had a verse jump out at me before, and the verses before it and after it are underlined, and I think, “Why didn’t I underline this verse?? It’s much more meaty and beautiful than the other ones.” Hehehe. God’s just amazing like that. It’s kept the Scriptures new and fresh for hundreds (thousands!) of years.
