My Comfy Pants
I bought 10 yards of soft black t-shirt knit off ebay last week. Including shipping, it turned out to be about $3 per yard. I paid too much for shipping, in my opinion. I contacted the seller today to question why the charges were so high (which I should have asked before) and she gave me a $7 credit toward my next purchase.
The fabric arrived on Saturday. It is just exactly what I had in mind. Yesterday when my friend was over to sew, I used the fabric to make myself one pair of pajama pants. I shouldn’t call them pajama pants, though, as I mean to wear them for comfy pants whenever, even to town.
So I think I should make a couple of pairs of them.
I used the pants pattern I worked on during the summer, when I made myself several pairs of black linen-blend pants. At that time and using the same pattern, I went on to make shorts in black and blue linen-blend, too. I intended to work with knit at that time, but that project got shelved and I didn’t get back to it until yesterday.
At first, I thought that I would have to remove ease from this pattern to make it work with the knit, but the fit is just perfect without modification. The pair I made yesterday fit great and I’m really happy with them. They feel and look to me like yoga pants — straight legged and long.
Now that school is done for the day, I am about to make myself 2 or 3 more pairs. I will do double or triple coverstitching in white thread on some of them.
I am definitely a cookie-cutter seamstress and dresser. If something works, I will make it and wear it over and over and over…
What type of dresser are you?
After that, but not today, I will try to perfect a long-sleeve t-shirt pattern for myself. If I can then convert that into a raglan-sleeve t-shirt pattern, I will use two t-shirts from thrift stores as the fabric to make those t-shirts.

I am a jeans/tee-shirt kind of gal.
Hi Wardeh.. Erin here(etippett).. I am inspired. I want to make some pants like those.. they would be great for all the time I am gonna be spending training for my Triathalon in the spring… yours look terrific.. I don’t have a serger(yet)have I told ya lately how much I love your blog.. Thank you as always for sharing yourself with us all..How did the kids projects turn out.
Thanks, Erin! The kids’ projects are going. Haniya finished one little quilt that she did all by herself, even the binding. Naomi finished the quilt tote bag. Are you going to get this pattern? I think you’ll like it. Try a practice pair first to check fit. If you need any help, let me know! Love, Wardeh
There is nothing like comfy pants! I tried wearing skirts for a week, but my new job requires pants because of having to climb up on step stools to shelve books. Anyway, glad you got your new pants!
Love, Jen
What kind of dresser?
Hmmmm….. very casual. Lots of denim. Cotton. Wool. Linen. Comfortable. :o)
That is just what I like. I am working on getting more wool. I am beginning to love merino wool but it is so expensive!
