Sunday School Picnic

The kids have been working very hard this summer. Their Sunday School teacher challenged them to memorize 8 Bible verses over the summer. The ones who succeeded would be able to go on a picnic with her. She worked them with week in and week out with such dedication. I enjoyed seeing the same dedication in my children. When I observed them practicing on their own, I rejoiced in their determination to put God’s words in their hearts!

I love the verses their teacher chose. They reflect the foundations of our faith, and teach the kids more about the character of Jesus, their Savior:

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” ~ John 14:6

“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” ~ Romans 3:23

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 6:23

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” ~ Ephesians 2:8-9

“I am the good Shepherd, the good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” ~ John 10:11

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Hebrews 13:5

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” ~ John 1:12

Last week, they finished the last verse. Today is the day slated for their picnic. Yay! Great job, kiddos!
