Help Me Out?

Here is the dress I mentioned that Jeff’s mom gave me. It has a knit top with ruffle sleeves. The neckline is low, which is why I made some tanks to wear underneath it. The skirt is made from a crinkle cotton put together in tiers all the way down to the floor. The waist is high. It is really lovely; I love how it feels and of course, black is always flattering. It is pictured with one of the tanks that I made to go underneath it.

I made two tanks — one in the muted cocoa brown you see, and the other in black. Using my pattern for tank tops, I redrafted the front and back necklines to match the opening and the swoop of the neckline in the dress. I also lowered the armhole points on front & back of the tank by one inch so as to line up with where the dress armhole points are. They were really easy to make, and for once, I didn’t have any mess-ups! I thank the Lord for that.

Here’s a closeup of the neckline, as it looks with the brown tank. I didn’t think it was necessary to take the picture of the dress with the black tank because then the neckline just looks higher.

So, my question is — which tank should I wear with the dress? Should I go for contrast or tone-on-tone? The girls say black; I am leaning toward brown, but then I could go either way.

i vote for brown. it looks more intentional.

  2. Wardeh, I think that for the wedding, you should wear the black on black, it is more formal looking. I think for other events/church, you can alternate the tanks and make it look like two different dresses, so I’d recommend using both (at different times, of course).

And the pink tiered skirt is adorable! She’ll look beautiful in it :)

  3. I think the brown is more in line with the current trend of wearing different colored tanks over each other. (Not that I’m a style expert!)

I vote for black. Its a very pretty dress!

Okay, so we’ve got 2 for black and 2 for brown. Any tie breakers? ~Wardeh

I vote BLACK — that is the color that looks best on my beautiful daughter-in-love. And, Naomi, you will look lovely in your pink skirt. It will match the pretty color in your cheeks and bring out the color in your twinkling eyes. However, you both are beautiful in whatever you wear. I want a picture of the whole family, please!

I say black for the wedding since it will look more formal, brown for more casual occasions. It is very pretty and looks comfy too!

It depends on your accessories. Either one will look intentional with the right accessories. I think I’d vote for the brown if you have some accessories that pick up the brown. With the black you could just use gold or silver or some other color.

Wardeh, I think I’d go for the black tank. I’d like the brown for a more casual time but a wedding is a pretty formal occasion.

Mrs. Parker had the dress on today at church. She looked very nice in it. Also, she didn’t need the tank under it, but I think it would have been better to have had one under it.

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday. I am looking for the picture!

Happy Sunday to you. Jerry just said “he sure does miss his grandkids.” We love you much.

I’m getting the picture ready right now! I can hardly believe anyone could wear the dress without a tank. Especially to church. ;) It reveals cleavage! The tank makes it perfect. Thanks so much for giving it to me me! We miss and love you all. Love, Wardeh

My 2 cents worth…. black for formal and brown for less formal. It will look great dressed up with accessories with either tank!

I vote for BROWN! IT will look more formal!
