A Tiered Skirt for Naomi
Haniya got a beautiful dress from Jeff’s mom for her birthday; she’ll wear it to a friend’s wedding tomorrow. Jeff’s mom also gave me a gorgeous black dress. She warned me that it would have a plunging neckline, and it does! So yesterday I made two knit camisole-tanks to wear underneath the dress. One is a muted cocoa brown color and the other is black; I don’t know which one I’ll pick in the end.

But Naomi didn’t have anything new to wear. So this morning, I sewed up a tiered skirt for her. What fun to put eyelet lace at the bottom! I also double coverstitched all the tier seams for a great finish. This is fabric that I bought on clearance several years ago. I don’t know whether it would be considered seersucker or crinkle cotton — but I’m sure it’s cute!

Oooh! That’s sweet. I was just thinking yesterday that I need to make some more tiered skirts for my baby daughter. She’s nearly 16 months, and I put a tiered skirt on her yesterday that had been given to us by a friend. It was a very full one, so that when she sat on the floor, the skirt billowed around her. It was very sweet, very pretty.
