Digging Out A Stump
The backhoe never did go on last night, although we tried. It is difficult to line the tractor up just so — in order to make it go on smoothly. We’ve never managed it quickly, although Kubota claims it is a “quick attach” implement. Oh, yeah?
Jeff was back at it early this morning and it went on, but with a little help from a hammer’s pounding. Then he started digging out a stump in a little clearing above the house where we envision having a camp and campfire area. Perhaps we’ll camp out this weekend, but only if that stubborn stump lets go of the ground.

Mikah sat up in the backhoe with Jeff. The sweetest part for me was
observing them discussing how best to attack the stubborn roots.
The experience of watching them tackle it together blesses me greatly.

When Mikah was not on the backhoe with Jeff, he and the girls
took turns collecting the roots and piling them up.
He hefted quite a big one, here!

Haniya and Naomi are waiting for the next root to break
so they can help in the piling of them.
At this point, the stump is still not out. I’ve come inside to make some more nettle-mint tea, which we are all drinking constantly. About time for lunch, too. We’re having wild salmon salad sandwiches and green slaw. For dinner, we’re having hamburgers. Last night’s were so delicious! We had sliced avocados and sauteed mushrooms & onions on them, along with Vegenaise and raw goat cheddar.

You and your family never cease to amaze me Wardeh!! :)) I log on and there is your husband sitting in a big digger!! (Yes I know it’s a back-hoe)lol! That would be a pretty unusual sight in my parts LOL. I do enjoy having a window into your life and part of the world. Have a wonderful tuesday!
Yvonne, hello! Before you get too excited, that stump never came out of the ground. Jeff is convicted not to try to change too much of the landscape anymore.
Love, Wardeh
