Child’s Bathrobe

One of my friends asked me to sew her daughter a bathrobe. When we were at Fabric Depot a few weeks ago, she picked out a luxurious orange chenille and a red-orange farm print flannel for the lining.

I am using New Look 6334 for the pattern, although with these changes:

  • buttons down the front (cute, big 1″ red buttons)
  • adjusting the front neckline for each side of the front to overlap where the buttons go
  • adding a lining

My friend will be visiting us on Friday with her daughters. I want to be totally done with the robe, even though she’s not asking it of me. The daughter who will receive the robe is about to have a birthday. Wouldn’t it be nice if the robe were done in time?

This morning, I traced the correct size of the pattern onto blank newsprint and made the change to the front for the buttons and adjusted neckline. I’m waiting to verify height information before I cut the fabric. I was thinking about doing a practice robe first, but since it seems so simple I think I’ll just go for it.
