Not Quite Right

Jeff tried on the basic knit shirt after I shaped the side seams down to his waist. It is encouraging. It fit pretty well. But something’s not right.

We think it has to do with the fact that I’m following techniques from a book on pattern drafting for women. Do you think I should try to find a book to teach me men’s pattern drafting? ;)
I did some research on the internet last night and found some book possibilities. I’m interested in these 2 books, the second of which is available at the library. I like to try before I buy, so I’ll pick it up tomorrow when we’re out. The other one I’ll order, maybe, if I can’t find what I need in the book from the library.

One Response to “ Not Quite Right ”

  1. i’ve used the don mccunn book…it’s good. don’t know anything about the other one. men’s drafting is a bit different simply because their bodies are shaped differently. look at RTW clothes that fit him well. turn them inside out to get a feel for their shape and construction. compare that to your patterns.

Thanks! I have taken apart one of his shirts and tried to make a pattern that way. I had problems. ;) Perhaps I’ll never get it right, but I’m determined to keep trying. Thanks for your tips! Love, Wardeh
