TAG: The Journeyman

I visited Karen’s Gatherings blog today. I’ve never participated in a tag before. This one got me. I thought, why not? Here it is:

I chose the The Journeyman by Elizabeth Yates, a book we’re reading aloud together. I am jumping at the chance to look ahead!

Now he could gaze down into his valley. It looked wider, for there were more clearings than when he had lived in it; but the fields, instead of waving in all the lushness of June growth, were pinched and bare. There was green pastureland, but the cattle grazing it were few, and the whole countryside had a deserted look, as if people were keeping to their homes.

Okay, well, that’s kind of a bleak look ahead. ;) I know the book is going to end on a better note than this passage suggests. I just know it.

Leave a comment below if you participate in this tag, allright?
