Easy Diagonal Squares Baby Quilt

colesquilt.jpgThe instructions for the baby quilt I made yesterday are available at the Titus 2 Christian HomeKeeper website.

Using strip piecing and easy machine quilting, I constructed this entire quilt in about 5 hours. I am under a time-constraint to get a baby shower gift sent off to my brother-in-law and his wife. Even if I’d had a little more time to make this quilt, I don’t think I’d have done it any differently. This quilt is very easy, very fast and very cute!

Here’s a close-up of the wave stitch quilting I did. This whimsical stitching turned out to be such a time-saver. I learned it from the family whose quilt workshop we visited. The wave stitch allowed the sewing lines the freedom to be imperfect and look great that way! The fabric was easier to smooth out under the stitching, too.

  6. Awesome…I have patterned stitches on my machine and have never thought of any way to use them….Hmmmmm.

  7. Maggie, I’m one of those who doesn’t often use those other stitches, either. I really enjoyed doing something different this time.

  8. Maggie, I forgot one thing. Those patterned stitches are good for topstitching, I’ve found. Waves, scallops, triple or double stitching… on garments, napkins, placemats, purses, tote bags ;) … I encourage you to try it next time you remake a bag!

  9. Simply amazing, I’m sure your brother-in-law and wife would love it. I know I would ;)
