Such Treasures

Jeff found the animated knots website yesterday for Haniya so she could learn knots. It all started because the No Greater Joy calendar came in the mail featuring the Bowline Knot for one of the month’s projects. She mastered that knot and wanted to learn more. Now she knows about four knots really well — the Bowline, the Alpine Butterfly, the Trucker’s Hitch and the Square Knot. The rope she’s wearing around her waist as a belt has all four of those knots on it.

Each knot is broken down step by step in pictures. You can “hover” on one picture as long as necessary before moving on to the next step. You can also watch the entire animation in quick succession to get the flow of a particular knot.
