Thanksgiving Day Painting
How was your Thanksgiving? I really enjoyed our day. We slept in until past 8 am. I got too much sleep. I didn’t sleep much at all last night to spread it out. ![]()
Jeff likes to do special activities on holidays — something different and fun. But together. So we painted.
Over to the left is Mikah’s palette. He was learning to blend the white in the middle with the other colors on the extremities of his plate and doing a really artistic job of it. It is gorgeous. Looking at his palette, I can see in my mind his little hands working the paint brush in the deft way he has. After the girls’ palettes were thrown out, I realized I should have taken a picture of those, too. Next time.

Our meal was a little traditional, a little not. Since I ruined a good turkey last year by overcooking it (due in part to a faulty thermometer), we weren’t in the mood, still, for turkey. So we ate roasted chicken. We’ve realized anyway that we just prefer chicken. They’re smaller and they stay moist and they cook faster. We eat mostly beef from our freezer full of grass-fed beef, so chicken felt really special and tantalizing.
The pumpkin pie was delicious (thanks, Haniya!) as were the sweet potatoes (thanks, Naomi!).
We spent time thanking the Lord for all our blessings and determining that every day gives us more opportunities to thank God for everything that comes our way. We are blessed!

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. My daughter enjoys drawing and painting occasionally too. My husband smoked a small turkey this year, and it was delicious! I think I’ve only made a turkey 2 or 3 times in all our years of marriage. We always have lasagna during the holidays, because that is how we grew up.(our Italian heritage) I prefer to make my Florentine spinach lasagna and let someone else do the turkey, so I got my way.
Hope you will enjoy the Christmas season.
