I have two platefuls of soap ready to set out at the Holiday Craft Fair I’m attending tomorrow and Saturday. I made the Green Tea Castile Soap a couple nights ago. I am also selling bars from a batch of American Castile Soap made up in August.
Last night I played around with the packaging. I settled on plastic wrap secured tightly around each bar. Around each bar (or two little bars) I wrapped a thin strip of ripped (rather than cut) tan or cream colored paper. On the paper, I wrote the name of the soap. I really like how they turned out rustic and simple.
Last night, when I was figuring out what packaging I would use, I was bemoaning the fact that our printer is broken down and I would have to do all the writing by hand. Now I’m thankful that I couldn’t rely on the printer. It would have been easier, but not nearly as satisfying. (I still would like a working printer, though. Just not for this!
)
When I made these bars of American Castile Soap bars, I was not intending to sell them. I had cut them very little so the little hands in our family could grip around them. For the craft fair, I wrapped them in plastic and secured them together as two in a package, which I intend to market as a stocking stuffer.
This afternoon, Haniya and Naomi helped me taping the wrappers around all the bars of soap, because the way I did it last night wasn’t sticking. I’m so thankful for my helpers! They are blessing me with their excitement and their sincere belief that I am going to sell EVERYTHING. They think that people are going to flock to see what I have to offer. Well, we’ll see. It is all in the Lord’s hands!
The bars are heaped on plates which I will set out on my table on a pretty doily. I have yet to make a placard explaining what Castile soap is, why it is so wonderful, and what the ingredients are in each type of soap. I don’t know if people will know that Castile soap is primarily made from olive oil and is great for people who have sensitive skin or suffer from eczema or psoriasis.
The stocking stuffer bars of American Castile Soap (along with couple of little bars of Green Tea Castile Soap).
The Green Tea Castile Soap. We are enjoying it even more than the American Castile Soap because it lathers so well.
