I am trying to think of what to call the soap I made last night. I think I should include green tea in the title because the green tea caused the pretty marbled effect. It is also mild enough for sensitive skin, as it is close to being castile soap and in addition, there are no added fragrances or colors. For now, it is…
Green Tea Castile Soap for Sensitive Skin
- 2 ounces castor oil
- 4 ounces sweet almond oil
- 12 ounces coconut oil
- 12 ounces grapeseed oil
- 24 ounces olive oil
- 16 ounces cold green tea (brewed with distilled water)
- 7.47 ounces sodium hydroxide (lye)
I made this soap according to the hot-process crockpot method in the book “Handcrafted Soap” by Dolores Boone. The recipe isn’t exactly like any of the recipes in her book; I modified the recipes for Green Tea Soap and American Castile Soap to come up with this.

They look great! Your family is so blessed to have you proficient in so many areas!
Gina, what you said is so kind. Thank you!
Wow! That’s neat that you make soap too. You are a woman of many talents. I love green tea, so I imagine green tea soap would be good too.
i’m thinking of making some pumpkin soap. where do you get your lye?
Lizadilly, that is a great idea! I’d love to hear how it turns out. I get my lye from a local soap-making shop. I know they won’t ship it. I have a friend who knows where to do online lye ordering; I’ll ask her and get back to you.

Carol, you’re sweet. Just remember, for all the things I know how to do there are a multitude more about which I have no clue!

I am wondering if you could do this recipe in the crock pot as well? This sounds heavenly!
Leigh — Yes, I do this recipe in the crockpot all the time!
