Wall Quilt Finished
I keep wondering if I’m going to run out of steam, but so far, no… I have to admit that I am enjoying the uninterrupted time to plow through projects. And I love this quilt! It took me a couple hours yesterday afternoon to piece together all the houses. I cut out replacement pieces from my own Homespun scraps for the missing kit pieces. This is such an opportune time for me to complete the project that I didn’t want to wait for the replacement pieces in the mail. Then this morning, I pieced together the trees, quilted around each house and the trees through all the layers, then added the binding and the buttons for doorknobs.
I hung the “Home Sweet Home” wall quilt on the wall with my straw hat. This wall is a skinny diagonal wall that is part of the hallway, the dining room and the living room. It can pretty much be seen from all the common rooms in the house. A good place for the quilt because I’ll be able to see it wherever I am and be reminded of our own “home, sweet home”.
I have never used a pre-cut quilt kit before. This was really a pleasure. The company that made this kit, Lasting Piece, did such a precise job of cutting all the pieces — everything fit together just about perfectly. I didn’t have to ease any of it. I never would have tried a quilting project so intricate on my own. I learned some new piecing techniques and I machine-quilted the top with more intricacy than I’ve attempted before.

Dear Wardeh,
Your new wall hanging looks so homey!
With your gentleness and the beautiful crafts you create to adorn your home and the amazingly scrumptious foods you prepare, your home has to the most welcoming and comfortable place.
Love the picture of your children above this entry. They look like they are having a wonderful time with Grandma and Grandpa.
I started out mowing yesterday in 95 degree weather. Whew! I mowed for 45 minutes with the push mower since I couldn’t get a hold of Darrell to tell me how to start and mow with it. (loook out, Robin on a riding mower! ha ha) I took a break for half an hour and then proceeded once again. This time I mowed for nearly two hours. It went from 95 degrees and mostly sunny to totally overcast and a very windy and loud thunderstorm! So, I was rained out. Good timing, I suppose, as it was time to cook dinner. That was good exercise!
Have a wonderful weekend, Dear Wardeh. Darrell is coming home tomorrow evening and will be home through Monday morning, I believe. Love, Robin
