Forest Homes
Before the logging, the kids had homes in the forest they created but had to abandon. Now their homes are rebuilt in new locations, in the groves of trees we kept. They have been working since the weekend on the construction. Today they gave me a tour. Haniya and Naomi both created elaborate kitchens with all sorts of bark platters, leaf spices, nuts, stick knives, and moss napkins.
See the meal Haniya made me on the countertop? It is leaves and delicacies on a bark plate with a moss napkin next to it and a stick utensil. You can see that her pantry is quite well stocked.
Naomi sorted out all her bark platters by size. She has piles and piles of them!
Haniya’s and Naomi’s watering cans– hollowed out pieces of wood — which they dip in the “well” nearby.

Mikah is not quite the decorator his sisters are, but his house is still quite nice. Here he is showing me his pasture. He doesn’t have any horses yet, but he is planning to buy some soon.
After a hard day’s work at home, the kids can unwind playing on a built in swing very close by.

Oh this reminds me so much of my childhood! We played for hours in the woods. We built our own town, called “Woodyville”. We took turns being the postman even, and wrote each other little letters the postman would deliver to each person’s fort!
Isn’t great to see your children having so much fun playing outside using their imaginations!

Just wonderful! I am so happy for your children and for you, that they are able to play and imagine. This is what real education is all about!
How fun!
