I haven't been on the computer much for a few days. So by way of catching up…
I appreciate all your prayers for the girls' standardized testing last week. They said it was fun and easy. We don't have scores yet. Mikah and I had a good time on our errands. We spent most of the time at JoAnn's. Oh, I found some lovely, lovely quilt fabrics for the quilt block swap at church! And Mikah was such a good helper. He brought me every blue or cream fabric he could find. It was fun to be with him alone.
I finished the two wall hangings I started last week. I finished hand-sewing the binding to the back side last night while I watched Pride & Prejudice. Here is one of the finished wall quilts.
Today, from lunch on, we are having company. Our friends are coming over and bringing us some eggs they are incubating. We (I should say the children) are babysitting the eggs while our friends go out of town. It is also my friend's birthday (the mom). I don't have her gift done. What I am planning is…. I have the three leftover Friendship Star blocks that I made to try out colors for the T2CHK quilt block swap. One is red/grey/black, one is green/cream, and the last is blue/yellow. They are large blocks — 15" — so I thought they would turn into lovely wall hangings just all by themselves with a wide border. I haven't started that project yet so her gift will be late. Today while she is here I am going to quiz her about what her favorite colors are to help me decide which of those blocks she would like best.
Overnight, I cooked pinto beans in the crockpot for our lunch of refried bean and rice burritos. I will make tortillas this morning. We are going to use our birthday tablecloth and birthday dishes. Our dessert will be the Banana-Carob Muffins I made this morning.
Tomorrow we are going to a little boys' 6th birthday. I am not too good with little boys' gifts. I have been racking my brain the last week trying to figure out what to make him. I have decided on painting the surface of a little wooden box and calling it "_______'s Treasures." He lives on a farm so I am going to paint a tractor on it and some bugs. Perhaps not the bugs. We'll see. I have until tomorrow at 11 am to complete that. Probably I'll begin tonight.
