Headed Out

Haniya and Naomi are taking standardized tests today. Haniya must, according to state law for third graders. Naomi's is optional, but we think good experience for her for when she does have to take the mandated test. We have gone through many practice tests. The most important thing I want for them is that they won't be surprised by what kinds of questions they will have or what the format will be like. Haniya is excited; she feels like it is a game or a puzzle and she wants to do well. Naomi is half-excited, half-nervous. She keeps asking me questions. Yesterday, when I told her that I wouldn't be there, she said she was glad. I'm glad, too. I want my kids to be strong and confident.

So while they are testing, Mikah and I are going to run around town. We will go to the library. I hope they have "Return of the King" on CD because I just finished "The Two Towers" and I'm ready for the conclusion! I also want a couple more George MacDonald books. I finished "The Fisherman's Lady" and "The Marquis' Secret" and enjoyed those very much. We also will go to the health food store and the grocery store. The biggest fun (for me) will be going to JoAnn's to buy fabric for the quilt block swap at church. I haven't been to JoAnn's for months. This is the first time in ages that the patterns are on sale on the day I'm in town, so I hope to pick up a couple of $1.99 patterns, too. The McCall's patterns are the ones on sale today through Sunday (I believe).

I think going to those places will about fill up the three hours that the testing takes. Then we'll come home for a late lunch and being home the rest of the afternoon. As soon as Jeff walks in the door from work tonight, our weekend starts. We all enjoy the weekends very much with Dad home!

    Dear Wardeh,

Good evening! :-D How are you? We are watching Pride and Prejudice, the five hour one. Hadn’t watched it in a month and was having withdrawels.

How do the girls feel they did on the tests? You won’t get the results for a few weeks, right? I prayed they would feel confidant and do well.

We got some fish – I blogged about it. We named them after the Bennet daughters! :D Have a wonderful rest of your weekend, dear Friend, Love, Robin
