I spent part of the morning putting together the guidelines for the Quilt Block Swap that we're having at church. I emailed the document to Jeff at his office. He is printing it for me so I can make copies on Friday and hand them out at church on Sunday.
We decided on the colors of blues and creams. The blues must be true blues — not aqua or teal and not with green or yellow undertones. The creams must be have a cream background with white, cream or tan print. The creams can't be see-through. I am going to cut fabric swatches of blues and creams that fit our color scheme and attach these to the instructions so all the ladies will have an idea of the colors I am trying to describe. It should be really fun! I am just tickled that everyone is so excited about it. I really didn't expect this kind of response from our little church. They're already talking about next year!
Each participant will construct 20 identical blocks. A couple of us are constructing two sets of blocks, so we will get 40 blocks back for a much larger quilt. This means I will have to make two kinds of blocks, and I have been deciding on those patterns today so I can purchase fabric when I am in town on Friday. I am probably going to go with scrappy diamonds blocks and fence rail blocks (pictured above and below). I will have to adjust the dimensions so I end up with 12-1/2" unfinished blocks.
