I painted this mailbox for Judy, Jeff's mom, as a retirement gift. The day before she came up to visit us, she retired from her job as office manager for 23 years. She loves roses. This mailbox matches a birdhouse and front porch bench I painted for her previously.
Judy, I sort of taught myself, I guess you could say. I’ve seen Donna Dewberry a couple of times on PBS and I watched that. I purchased some books and just practiced, practiced, practiced. My first attempts were horrendous but I just kept trying to duplicate what I saw. Those roses aren’t the One Stroke roses, though. I prefer these that I learned from another artist’s book.
Very nice, Wardeh! What a beautiful retirement gift. My Mom, Judy, retired just a few months ago herself from Tinker Air Force Base in OK. Now she golfs a lot.
Wow! Beautiful; you are VERY talented!
The mailbox is so beautiful Wardeh. Did you take a class in one stroke painting, or just teach yourself?
Love Judy

P.S. Do you paint something over your painting so the weather will not ruin your lovely work?
Robin, congratulations to your mom!
I spray at least 3 to 5 coats of a sealer/varnish to weather proof objects I paint for outdoors.
