T2CHK Quilt Block Swap

The quilt block swap is wrapping up. The blocks were all due last month, and I have received most of them. One set got lost in the mail :( and I don't know if we will be able to recover it unless the person who received it (it wasn't me) decides to forward it on. Will you please pray that this would happen? Another set is on its way and the last set might not come at all. I hope by next week I'll be able to mail out the "swapped" blocks to all the ladies who participated. Then the second stage of the fun begins… assembling our own quilts, from blocks that have come from all over the country and even from Canada.

I was so excited by the T2CHK swap that I suggested having a swap among the ladies at my church. We just announced it on Sunday and already there are 10 ladies and young ladies signed up and there are more who are planning on participating too. We are each going to make extra blocks to construct an extra quilt for a fundraising auction at our local crisis pregnancy center. The auction will be in October.

This swap will be a little different than the T2CHK swap. The ladies and young ladies will be able to pick whatever 12" block pattern they want to construct — according to their skill level or time available. It could be as simple as a plain 4-patch or 9-patch block or as complicated as an Evening Star or more complicated. But everyone will have to follow certain color guidelines, which haven't been decided yet. So our finished quilts will look like sampler quilts — many different blocks in a certain color scheme.

  1. Wardeh did Lisa mail you my blocks yet? I haven’t heard from her in a while?

    Thanks

  2. I am not a quilter, but the swap does sound like a lot of fun. :) I do hope you get the missing box.

  3. Judy, I haven’t heard specifically, but I’m assuming they’re on the way!

Michelle, a swap is so fun! :) And thanks for saying you hope we get the missing box. I hope so too! Please, Lord?

  4. Wardeh, I hope the ladies at your church have a great time! What fun! And for such a good cause.
You know, I guess it sounds naive, but every time I have lost something, I talk to the Lord and confess to Him that I am helpless without Him, that only He knows where this object is, and that if it is His good and perfect will, would He help me find this object…. He has always, always brought me the object or helped me to understand that there is a purpose in its being lost. Isn’t it amazing how interested the Creator of the Universe is in the details of our lives?

  5. Sylvia, I don’t think that sounds naive at all. You reminded me that God does care about it and wherever those quilt blocks are, He has allowed it for some reason. I am still praying that they would make it to me, though!

  6. Wardeh,

That swap at your church sounds so neat! I’d love to do something similar in my church…perhaps I’ll talk to our women’s pastor about it. And you know I’m praying!

  7. Barbie, I think it would be wonderful for the ladies at your church to do this, too! Thanks for your prayers.

  8. Hi…I see you are a quilter. You might want to check out my blog: http://www.joycelivingston.blogspot.com Yesterday, I began posting a quilt block a day, and will be posting them daily for the next several weeks. Also, you might pass this word on to others. Up until I began to be published in inspirational romance fiction, I traveled the country lecturing and teaching on quilting, and I’ve had numerous articles in quilting and craft magazines.
